Diploma & Certificate of Graduation Options

Traditional College Path

The Traditional College Path with ECA is designed for students seeking admission to both four (4) year and two (2) year colleges and universities and can be modified for students seeking NCAA eligibility. Once students have completed this path, they will receive a diploma and transcripts outlining their accomplishments.

The credits that are recommended for this path are generally accepted at most colleges and universities, however, it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that they contact the colleges and universities they plan to attend for specific credit requirements.

Career & Technical Path

The Career & Technical Path with ECA is designed for students seeking to enter the workforce, start a business, enter a Technical School, Bible College, or other life choice path that does not require formal continuing education.

Upon completion of the Career & Technical Path, students will receive a diploma and transcripts outlining their accomplishments.

Certificate of Graduation

The Certificate of Graduation is designed for students who would typically not live independently.  The educational plan for students on the Certificate of Graduation path is adaptable to the needs of the student.

A Certificate of Graduation will be issued to the student once the student is at least 18 years of age and determined by the parent to have completed the course plan.  Students seeking a Certificate of Graduation may work on their Certificate past the age of 18.

Students earning a Certificate of Graduation are invited to be a part of the ECA Graduation Ceremony upon completion of the plan.  ECA will do its best to accommodate any needs the student has during the graduation ceremony, but we are limited to the space the ceremony will be held in.

Early Graduation

Students who have not reached the age of 16 need to fulfill the following requirements to graduate early from ECA;

The student must

Scholarships & Grants

There are many scholarships and grants available to students who graduate through homeschooling. For students whose goal is to pursue a two-year or four-year college degree researching and understanding your funding options are helpful.

One opportunity open to homeschooled students is TN Promise. Students can receive an award at an eligible postsecondary institution toward tuition and mandatory fees after all other gift aid has been first applied. To find out more about TN Promise, click HERE.

Tennessee Tech offers a resource guide to parents. The guide is a compilation of public scholarship sites and other sources, and it is updated regularly. You can click HERE to download the guide. In addition to the guide the page lists additional outside scholarships available.

TSSAA Requirements

Homeschool athletes who plan to play with a TSSAA member school team must meet minimum eligibility requirements outlined in 2022-23 TSSAA Bylaws Article II, Section 25. For information and requirements read HERE.

NCAA Requirements

All families with college-bound student-athletes interested in playing NCAA sports at a Division I or II school need to understand the requirements set forth by the NCAA. Your student should be registered before their freshman year of high school. You can find all of the Home School Toolkit HERE.

ECA is here to support you and your student’s goal to play college athletes. We can help advise you along the way, however, as your student’s parent-educator, you are responsible for keeping up with guidelines, eligibility requirements, submission of your student’s Core Course Worksheets, and other information to ensure they remain eligible.
